Uber Eats VP steps down amid fierce delivery competition
Uber Eats vice president Jason Droege announced he is stepping down as head of the mobile restaurant food delivery service. The opening will be filled by Pierre Dimitry Gore Coty, who previously ran Uber’s ride hailing business outside of North America as vice president, international rides.
Uber announced the move in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
"Jason’s vision, leadership, analytical mind and entrepreneurial spirit have been the driving force behind Uber Eats incredible success and great assets both to Uber and me personally," Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber CEO said in the filing.
Khosrowshahi praised Droege in a retweet of his announcement, noting that the executive helped launch the business in December 2015 and said the food delivery service would not have grown without Droege’s participation.
The move comes a time when the restaurant food delivery business is going through a blistering period of competition and intense scrutiny by the investment class.
