Telepin Software announces million merchant milestone
Ottawa, Ontario-based Telepin Software announced that it has surpassed 1 million merchants active on its global customers' mobile money networks. Telepin is a platform provider for mobile money transactions serving more than 132 million subscribers via mobile operator deployments in the Middle East, South East Asia, Africa and the Americas.
"The growth of mobile money, mobile commerce, and mobile payments continues as the single most value added service on which operators have focused their attention the last several years," said Telepin CEO Vincent Kadar in the announcement.
Kadar said the growth of Telepin's customer's merchant networks, as well as hitting 1 million active merchants, shows the market needs the company's solutions. Kadar added that based on market activity, the explosion of these markets will continue for the next few years and Telepin expects an even greater demand for its mobile transaction platforms globally.
Using Telepin's mobile financial software, mobile operators can deliver financial services to both subscriber and merchant customers.
Traffic on Telepin-powered networks tops 1,100 TPS (transactions per second), delivering more than 31 million transactions every day by all Telepin platforms deployed in its operators.
It now has more than 30 active mobile money deployments around the world. Most recently, the company announced that it is powering mHawala, Etisalat Afghanistan's full mobile financial services product. Other deployments using Telepin's software include Digicel Pacific and Papua New Guinea's Digicel Mobile Money and cellmoni, a mobile money service in Papua New Guinea.
