ROAM debuts next iteration of its mPOS product
Mobile POS provider ROAM has announced the next generation of its mPOS application, ROAMpay X4. With this new release, ROAM said it has enhanced the app's user experience and simplified integration with existing backend systems.
ROAMpay X4 is a step beyond the dongle-meets-app mobile point-of-sale solution, competing with solutions aimed at larger retailers — something more like NCR's Silver system. ROAM said the new system is designed to help businesses of all sizes and geographies extend their traditional point-of-sale infrastructure to Android and iOS-based smartphones and tablets.
"Mobile point of sale is a whole lot more than plugging a dongle into a mobile phone and enabling card acceptance," said Ken Paull, CEO of ROAM. "It's become a channel for merchants and merchant-facing organizations to reinvent the point-of-sale experience and better engage with their customers."
Among its other improvements, ROAMpay X4 features:
- offline processing capabilities to deal with wireless service inerruptions;
- white-labeling that lets merchants access ROAMpay X4's core functions from within their own branded apps;
- advanced security settings with end-to-end data encryption and PIN-based authentication.
"While this market is evolving at a very rapid pace, we've listened closely to our customers to understand their needs and to identify where the market is headed," said Bill Pittman, SVP of product management at ROAM. "Our tens of thousands of customers have already started migrating to this app, and the feedback we've been receiving thus far has been tremendous."
