Movo e-wallet links with Green Dot for prepaid card reloads
Users of the Movo e-wallet app can now use Green Dot MoneyPak and Reload at the Register cash load products, available at approximately 70,000 retailers nationwide, to add funds to their card account within minutes.
Cash applied to the Movo digital prepaid Visa card can be used to shop, pay bills, or make P2P payments, according to a press release.
"We're reinventing what people can instantly do with their cash," MovoCash CEO Eric Solis said in the release. "[T]hey can access and spend their money now, or use funds for peer-to-peer payments, which enhances the traditional prepaid card. Ultimately, this integration breaks down barriers and creates greater financial capabilities for hardworking consumers."
Here's how the MoneyPak reload process works with Movo:
- Purchase Green Dot MoneyPak at major retailer such as CVS or Walgreens.
- Load $20 to $500 onto MoneyPak for a fee of up to $5.95.
- Create a secure login on MoneyPak.com; enter the number from the back of the MoneyPak package and the Movo card number to apply funds.
- Look for the cash to be appear in the Movo app at the next login — within 10 minutes.
Reload at the Register is available to Movo customers who have a physical Movo prepaid Visa card. At the point of sale, the user presents cash and and the Movo card, then asks the cashier to use Green Dot Reload at the Register to credit the cash to the Movo card.
Movo issues FDIC-insured card accounts through Metropolitan Commercial Bank. The card accounts are attached to instant digital VISA debit cards that protect a user's primary banking information. The Movo app is available to anyone in the U.S. who registers with a mobile number or email address.
