Mastercard, Samsung launch digital inclusion plan for emerging markets
Mastercard and Samsung are partnering to offer greater digital inclusion for consumers and small businesses in emerging markets through its Pay on Demand platform, which helps bring together financial institutions, original equipment manufacturers and telcos to tackle the issue in markets with limited device financing, according to a company press release.
Mastercard will launch the platform with the Samsung Knox team in Africa and the Middle East in early 2020 and will extend the program to other markets.
"At Mastercard, we see a connected world where opportunity and prosperity are possible for everyone, everywhere," Jorn Lambert, executive vice president, digital solutions at Mastercard, said in a company release. "The Pay on Demand platform enables us to deliver on that vision and foster financial inclusion, giving consumers an opportunity to participate in digital commerce."
