Future POS restaurant system adds Paydiant mobile wallet

Nearly 8,000 locations using the Future POS restaurant and hospitality point-of-sale system can now offer mobile payments after the company integrated a mobile wallet solution from Paydiant. The payments are available in a variety of checkout scenarios, including pay-at-the-counter, pay-at-the-tablet/handheld and pay-at-the-table, according to a Paydiant news release.

Wellesley, Mass.-based Paydiant provides a cloud-based, white label mobile payment, cardless ATM access, offer redemption and loyalty platform. Consumers use iPhone or Android smartphones to download the restaurant's or hospitality service provider's mobile wallet app and link their preferred payment cards to the wallet. They then scan a QR code presented at the point of sale or on a tablet running Future POS at the table. Customers use their mobile device to choose the offers to redeem and the card type to complete the transaction.

Butler, Pa.-based Future POS writes point-of-sale software designed for the hospitality industry, with deployments in restaurants around the world, including fine dining, quick service, retail and other specialty applications, according to the release.

With the new integration, Future POS restaurants can also accept payments from, and distribute offers to, customers using mobile wallets issued by Paydiant's bank and financial institution partners, Paydiant said, adding that its cloud-based mobile payment process ensures security by eliminating the storage of personal or account information on the phone itself and not passing that information through the POS system.

The solution also offers Future POS other capabilities, Paydiant said, including tender steering to lower cost payment instruments, distribution of offers to drive more frequent customer visits and higher average ticket size, and a more secure payment mechanism that leads to less card fraud and fewer chargebacks.

"There is no denying the impact of mobile at the point of sale," Steve Pritchard, dealer manager at Future POS, said in the release. "It delivers higher service levels and drives deeper customer engagement in multiple ways. Part of that engagement involves new ways of marketing to consumers when and where restaurants and hospitality service providers can add the most value — in the restaurant and at the point of sale."

Paydiant co-founder Chris Gardner said "the mobile wallet is about much more than payments. It strengthens customer loyalty by increasing convenience, personalization and value in the consumer relationship. Paydiant's software-only, cloud-based solution delivers these benefits to retailers and hospitality service providers using their existing POS infrastructure."
