Florida lawmaker proposes sports betting through kiosks, mobile apps, websites
A Florida lawmaker has introduced a bill to allow sports betting through self-service kiosks, mobile apps and websites, according to a South Florida Sun Sentinel report.
State Sen. Jeff Brandes, R-St. Petersburg, said the state is missing out on much-needed tax revenue by not having legal sports betting.
Under Brandes’ bill, the Florida Lottery would offer sports betting through self-service kiosks and provide licenses for businesses to take sports bets through mobile apps and websites. Licensees would split their proceeds with the state, which would fund educational services and scholarships.
