Cubic wins $4M contract for mobile ticketing on Irish public transit system

Cubic Corp. has announced that Ireland’s National Transport Authority awarded a $4 million mobile ticketing contract to its Cubic Transportation Systems Unit, in a company release.

NTA officials said the agreement will allow travelers to buy tickets using their mobile phone and present them on the device for confirmation, according to a release from the agency.

The service will be rolled out in a pilot phase on certain Bus Eireann regional routes later this year, and then will lbe added to other routes over time, according to NTA.

"We are pleased to work with the NTA to deliver a mobile ticketing system for Ireland that benefits from the in-depth experience and knowledge we’ve gained through supporting large, medium and small agencies worldwide," Laurent Eskenazi, EMEA managing director for Cubic Transportation Systems, said in the release.

"As the very first national mobile ticketing project for Ireland, we look forward to simplifying traveler journeys and creating a quicker and less labor-intensive ticketing process for operators."
