Apple Pay debuts in Ireland
Apple Pay is now live in Ireland, almost three years after the service first debuted in the United States.
Ulster Bank and KBC are the only two banks in Ireland that support Apple Pay, but the Boon digital prepaid MasterCard from Wirecard is also compatible with the Apple mobile wallet system.
"By launching Boon with Apple Pay in Ireland, even more users in Europe can experience a new level of mobile payments without being a customer of a specific bank," Georg von Waldenfels, executive vice president consumer solutions with Wirecard, said in a statement. "Thanks to its ease of use, Boon is a state-of-the-art payment solution."
