Amex launches Green by American Express with enhanced points and digital perks
American Express said it has reimagined its iconic American Express Green Card with a series of new features and benefits, including rewards and digital payment features under the newly named Green by American Express.
"We know our card members value experiences — big and small — and a digital membership that fits seamlessly into their lives," Rachel Stocks, executive vice president of global premium products and benefits, said in a company release. "The Green Card was introduced 50 years ago to meet consumer needs as the travel industry took off. Today we are reimagining this iconic card once again to meet the needs of our card members and reward the areas they care about and regularly spend in — travel, transit and dining."
Card members will also have a mobile assistant to book travel, check account information or ask questions through the American Express App. They can split the bill with other PayPal or Venmo users and they can get additional payment flexibility up to their Pay Over Time limit.
The Green by American Express card will provide the following rewards:
- 3X Membership Rewards on travel, including air, hotel, rental cars, ride sharing, subways, buses, third-party sites and amextravel.com.
- 3X Membership Rewards at restaurants worldwide.
- Up to $100 statement credits per calendar year for CLEAR membership, which provides frictionless entry into more than 60 airports, stadiums, sports arenas and Hertz rental car locations.
- Up to $100 in credits per calendar year towards LoungeBuddy airport lounges.
- New card members get up to $100 credit with the Away lifestyle brand if they apply by Jan. 15.
- New card members can also get 30,000 Membership Rewards points for spending $2,000 in eligible purchases.
